1. Who can join IMHO?
Anybody who is interested in helping to rebuild the healthcare
infrastructure of the North-East of Sri Lanka.
2. How can I join?
Complete the online application form. The form for adults
is located under the “Join” link,
and the form for youth is located under the “Youth
Group” link.
3. How can I help?
- Provide clinical support by staffing health care centers
and mobile clinics in North-East Sri Lanka
- Train the next generation of healthcare professionals
to work in North-East Sri Lanka
- Gather medical equipment and medicine to be sent to
North-East Sri Lanka
- Fundraising, including raising funds through pharmaceutical
companies
- Provide consultation services for Tamils in USA and
North-East Sri Lanka
- Help draft health care projects for North-East Sri Lanka
4. How can youth help?
- Organize conferences to publicize the poor state of
healthcare in North-East Sri Lanka
- Network with other NGOs and charity organizations in
USA to provide healthcare support to North-East Sri Lanka
- Teach English in North-East Sri Lanka to medical students
- Organize and carry out health care projects designed
to improve the state of healthcare in North-East Sri Lanka
5. What is the benefit for
me?
Participation in THO-USA will help you get better education,
training, and employment in the healthcare field through
our network of experienced members in academic and private
practice.
Working together, we can improve the physical, psychological,
and social welfare of Tamils living in USA by undertaking
community-based teaching, clinical service, and research.
6. What is THO-USA (Tamils Health Organization—USA)?
THO-USA is the old name of IMHO.
7. How can I contribute financially?
You can send a check or use a credit card to contribute
through our secure Paypal account.

8. Is there a place for visiting healthcare
professionals to stay in Kilinochi?
Yes. IMHO will make arrangements for you to stay in a simple
but comfortable guest quarters in Kilinochi. Inform
us in advance of your travel dates.
9 . I have old medical books and have
access to free medicine and medical equipment. Can you arrange
for shipping?
Yes. IMHO will make arrangements to pick up materials
and deliver them to North-East Sri Lanka.
10. What is Tamil_nalam discussion
group?
IMHO members communicate through a Yahoogroups email forum
with the address tamil_nalam@yahoogroups.com.
All IMHOmembers are encouraged to join
the email discussion forum and participate. As well as memebers
of our partner organizations in other countries (Canada,
UK, Australia, Malaysia,and Norway) take part in the discussion
group, which helps to coordinate our activites at an international
level.
11. Is IMHO a registered charity organization?
Yes, IMHO is a 501(c)3 registered charitable organization
in USA. That is, all contributions to IMHO are tax-deductible.
12. What is CHC?
CHC stands for Centre for Health Care, which is a nationally
registered non-governmental organization (NGO) in Sri Lanka.
CHC is our partner in Sri Lanka and helps us to coordinate
our activities in Sri Lanka. CHC is formed by a group of
doctors working in the North-East of Sri Lanka to help rebuild
the shattered health care infrastructure. Their web site
