So far more than 70 Physicians, nurses and health care volunteers from the USA have traveled to the North-East of Sri Lanka through IMHO. More than 100 boxes/bags of medications and medical supplies have been sent to tsunami affected areas of Sri Lanka.

Colombo CHC office is set-up at a cost of US$ 10,000. Dr. Shiamala Suntharalingham from UK volunteers for six months to run the CHC office in Colombo.

Twenty boxes of medical supplies including medications, antiseptics, dressing and suture materials were sent by air cargo to Sri Lanka. The flight was kindly sponsored by Mr. Carl Lindner.

IMHO has dispatched 5 million of Chlorine Tablets 0.5 gm for water purification to North and East of Sri Lanka. These were purchased in India and it was sponsored by the fund raising carried out by children of Staten Island, New York.

Transferred US$ 25,000 to CHC in Sri Lanka to purchase antibiotics, intravenous fluids and nutritional feeds for children.

Start collecting medical supplies for relief efforts in Sri Lanka. We are collecting antibiotics (both oral and IV), vaccinations (for Cholera, Typhoid and Hepatitis A), anti-septics (alcohol and betadine), needles/syringes, pain killers, water purification tablets, gloves/masks and dressing materials.

Fifteen medical doctors are needed immediately to man the peripheral hospitals in the North & East province of Sri Lanka. Those registered in any country may apply. The employment contract is with WHO and for 6 months to 1 year, preferably for one year. The salary will be US $600 per month (allinclusive). The salary will be paid by the North and East provincial Council in Sri Lankan rupees.
